Artificial grass tape plays a crucial role in the seaming process of artificial turf installation. Proper use not only ensures the firmness of seams but also extends the overall service life of the artificial turf.

1. Preparation Before Installation

• Choose the right tape: Select the tape width based on the turf width and seaming requirements, typically between 10–20 cm is common.

• Clean the base layer: Before laying the tape, thoroughly clean the base in the seam area. Use a broom, vacuum, or similar tools to remove dust, soil, gravel, and debris. Ensure the base surface is flat, dry, and free of oil or grease. If there are uneven spots, repair them with cement mortar or specialized leveling materials to avoid affecting the tape and turf adhesion.

• Prepare tools: Gather necessary tools such as tape measure, utility knife, rubber mallet, and trowel. The tape measure is for precise measurement and positioning of tape and turf; the utility knife for cutting tape and turf; the rubber mallet to press the turf firmly onto the tape for better adhesion.

2. Seaming Process

• Lay the tape: Spread the artificial grass tape flat on the base, aligning the tape centerline with the turf seam. Use the tape measure for accurate placement. If the tape length is insufficient, overlap tapes by at least 10 cm to ensure seam strength.

• Fix the turf: Cover one turf edge over the tape, aligning turf edges with tape edges. Gently tap the turf surface with the rubber mallet from one end to the other to press the turf firmly onto the tape. Ensure even pressure to avoid unpressed or overly pressed spots that could damage the turf. After fixing one side, repeat the process for the other turf edge.

• Handle the seam: For any visible gaps at the seams, fill them with artificial grass fibers matching the turf color or use specialized seam filler materials to achieve a neat and natural look. Check the seam surface for evenness; adjust turf position or press again if needed.

3. Post-Seaming Inspection and Maintenance

• Check seam quality: After seaming, carefully inspect the adhesion of the seams. Gently pull the turf edges to check firmness. If loose or delaminated, repair immediately. Ensure seams are flat and gap-free; reposition tape and turf if problems occur.

• Maintenance and curing: Avoid heavy traffic or pressure on the artificial turf for 24–48 hours after seaming to allow the tape and turf to bond fully. Keep the seam area dry and avoid rain or water exposure during this period to preserve tape adhesion.

Proper use of artificial grass tape requires careful control at every stage—from preparation to seaming and maintenance. This ensures firm seams, a beautiful appearance, and a solid foundation for the turf’s long-term use.
